DIRT KARTING OF AUSTRALIA DRIVER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
AIDKA is proud to introduce the Driver Development Program, an initiative designed to enhance the driving skills, knowledge, and confidence of our members — particularly within the junior ranks, though the program is suitable for drivers of all ages and experience levels.
This program will be available for all clubs to utilise during Education and Practice Days, offering a structured approach to improving driver performance and safety.
Purpose of the Program
The purpose of this document is to provide a practical guide for clubs to conduct training exercises aimed at improving:
- Driver skill and technique
- Race awareness and confidence
- Decision-making under pressure
- Understanding of racing etiquette and rules
These skills can be directly applied on race days, leading to safer, fairer, and more competitive racing across all classes.
Program Structure
A key component of the Driver Development Program is the use of a club’s existing volunteer base, including:
- Club leaders and officials
- Experienced and skilled drivers
- Mentors and coaches
This community-driven approach allows clubs to develop their own members using the collective experience and knowledge already within their ranks.
By encouraging local mentoring, the program strengthens both individual driver development and club culture.
